This past Saturday we, the citizens from around the United States, observed the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army/ Military and they/we also observed “No Kings Day”.
On Sunday Western Christianity celebrated Trinity Sunday – the festival of Unity of all that is God – that our One God is experienced and called by Three Names, Father/Mother, Son/Incarnate Word and Holy Spirit, and this same God calls all into Unity in the Divine.
So, here I sat with the apparent dilemma of the great divide of sentiments on Saturday and the inner magnetism toward integrity on Sunday. Did you not feel the same way? There is much in our society that can be seen from different points of view, not all with the same value, but all persons can be respected for expressing them. But we probably have more common values with our neighbors than what divides us: the desire for safety, health, and freedom for ourselves and our loved ones, to name a few. We have choices: we do not have to choose the path that separates us. Choose goodness; choose truth; choose kindness; choose to be your best self.
