Sr. Theresa was born at LaBarre Plantation, Pointe Coupe Parish, Louisiana On February 21, 1923. Her parentage was Cajun of the line of Longfellow’s Evangeline.

She was the oldest of four children. After her mother’s death Theresa cared for her siblings until her entrance into St. Scholastica Priory, Covington, Louisiana, on April 12, 1946.

As her ministry Sr. Theresa was involved in child care from 1948-1966 and then served the community in housekeeping from 1966-1988. In 1988 the sisters of St. Scholastica Priory decided to dissolve their priory and the sisters chose to relocate. Sr. Theresa chose St. Walburg Monastery which welcomed her on March 28, 1988 and she officially completed the transfer of her vows on July 11, 1991.

Sr. Theresa was gentle and unassuming with a quiet wit which sparkled at unexpected times. Generous with her time, she served willingly where and when she could.

In her later years she suffered from the effects of Parkinson’s Disease but she always had a smile if one could wait. In the infirmary exercise sessions she loved to catch and throw the ball and then smile. She also loved it when her nieces, Elda, Linda and Brenda, visited her.

Sr. Theresa died quietly on November 30, 2003, the first Sunday of Advent.
