Sr. Dolores Brueggen was born to Bernard and Catherine Bill Brueggen and given the name Agnes at her baptism. Agnes entered St. Walburg Monastery on January 11, 1919 and received the habit and a new name on September 24, 1919. Sr. Dolores made first profession on March 31, 1921 and final profession on March 31, 1924. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee on June 27, 1946; Golden on June 26, 1971 and Diamond on June 6, 1981.

Sr. Dolores spent nearly fifty years in the classroom at the following schools:

  • Villa Madonna Academy (Grades 4-5) 1920-21
  • St. John Orphanage (Grades 1-4) 1921-22
  • Holy Cross (Grades 4,6,7) 191922-28
  • St. Benedict (Grade 8) 1928-29
  • St. Therese (Grades 7-8) 1929-35
  • St. Benedict (Grade 7) 1935-39
  • Villa Madonna Academy High School 1940-44
  • Blessed Sacrament (Grades 5 and 8) 1950-1969

Sr. Dolores retired to the monastery in 1970. She died December 25, 1984. Many sisters remember the afghans and other knitted articles that came from the fingers of Sr. Dolores.
