Sr. Edith Hoffman was born to Adam and Frances Schmidt Hoffman and given the name Emma at her baptism. Emma entered St. Walburg Monastery on July 22, 1890 and received the habit and her new name on February 25, 1891. Sr. Edith made first profession on March 21, 1892 and final profession on August 1, 1895.

For five years after her entrance, Sr. Edith helped with the children and did housework at St. Walburg Academy. After 1895 she spent three years at Holy Angles in Birmingham, Alabama and four years at St. Catherine, Pratt City, Alabama. She then returned to St. Walburg Monastery in Covington and taught ten years at St. Henry and fifteen years at Holy Cross. She then returned to St. Henry for three years. Sr. Edith died on January 5, 1932.
