Sr. Philippine Swett was born December 8, 1901 in New Orleans, LA to Samuel and Helena Hardart Swett and was given the name Elenora Marie at her baptism.
Lenora joined the Benedictine Sisters at St. Scholastica Priory, Covington, LA on September 15, 1916 and made her religious profession on August 27, 1918. Sr. Phillippine celebrated her Diamond Jubilee (60 years) on July 22, 1978.
Sr. Philippine served the Church through her religious community as superior, principal, and teacher for many years in the following schools:

Our Lade of the Lake, Mandeville, LA
Immaculate Conception, Grand Prairie, TX
St. Scholastica Academy, Covington, LA
St. Joseph’s, Chauvin, LA
Mater Dolorosa, New Orleans, LA
In December 1988 Sr. Philippine was among the first of eleven sisters from the Louisiana community to come to St. Walburg Monastery. She transferred her bows to this community on July 11, 1988.
As a dearly loved and revered religious of her own community and esteemed teacher to so many children in southern Louisiana, she came to St. Walburg full of years and grace. Although in these latter years it was hard for her to remember, those who knew her could not forget. Like Abraham she was called to do hard things in her old age. Her death came peacefully on Monday, March 11 at 8:00 AM>
