“Check the list” by Nancy Kordenbrock, OSB

Recently I was telling my brother, Bob, about so many friends asking for prayers as they face illnesses or family crises. It seems that my list gets longer daily. I don’t want to forget anyone, but I guess at that point it was somewhat overwhelming.

My brother, always a source of good advice, said, “I just ask God to check the list.” I know I laughed when he said it, but now it’s my mantra as well. Knowing that God already knows my needs and the needs of everyone, it’s comforting to know that my “list” is always being checked. God’s blessings are flowing to everyone who needs them.

While the Bible doesn’t use the modern phrase “making a to-do list,” it frequently speaks about making plans, writing down a vision, and counting our blessings.

So, my prayer list becomes a “to-do list” for me and for God, the source of strength and peace.  What a joy to know it is not only my list alone!
