Sr. Angela Thesing was born to Henry and Mary Pohlman Thesing and given the name Elizabeth at her baptism. Elizabeth entered St. Walburg Monastery on June 3, 1910 and received the habit and the name Sr. Angela on October 5, 1910. She made first profession on December 29, 1911and final profession on March 23, 1915. Sr. Angela celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 1936 and her Golden in 1961. She celebrated her Diamond Jubilee privately in 1971.

Sr. Angela served as seamstress and housekeeper from 1910-20 at the monastery on Twelfth Street, at St. John Orphanage from 1920-29 and at Villa Madonna Academy until December 1979. Her quiet service in peeling vegetables for meals at the school is remembered by many. Her sense of humor was a surprise and a treat. It is reported that Sr. Angela’s prayer and advice once brought confidence and hope to a pregnant woman who named her child Angela Hope.

Sr. Angela died on December 26, 1980.
