Sr. Johanna Huggenberger was born to John and Theresa Huggenberger and given the name Waldburga at her baptism. Waldburga became a postulant at St. Walburg Monastery on December 25, 1881 and received the habit and her new name on January 7, 1883. In 1873 her older sister had also entered and became Sr. Philomena. Sr. Johanna professed first vows on February 26, 1884 and final profession on February 16, 1887.
Sr. Johanna served the St. Walburg community as housekeeper from 1882 until 1887. As a teacher of the primary grades and of German, she was missioned at St. Benedict Parish from 1887 until 1891 and at St. Joseph Parish, Covington, from 1891-92. In later years she helped with housekeeping at the monastery and served as procuratrix. Her death occurred on December 5, 1931.
