- The project must be a charity or program sponsored by a not-for-profit, tax exempt organization whose activities flow from religious, ethical and moral values.
- The project must address needs in the areas of housing, hunger, health or education in locales where the Benedictine Sisters of St. Walburg Monastery live and/or serve.
- Organizations/agencies that are eligible for a grant will:
- have as a goal positive systemic change;
- encourage collaboration and cooperation among a variety of people and between various organizations;
- present data that demonstrate a need for their projects;
- Preference will be given to projects which do one or more of the following:
- sustain recently started projects;
- begin new projects;
- match funds or generate matching funds for projects;
- sustain ongoing projects critical to local communities.
- A request will not be funded if
- it duplicates an already existing program in the same locale;
- more than $10,000 is requested;
- funds are to be used for an organization/agency's administration, overhead or maintenance;
- funds are requested for a capital campaign or to establish endowments;
- it is to be used to make up an operating deficit;
- more than 25% of the requested amount is for salaries and/or stipends.
- All requests must be accompanied by our application forms for funding. Forms are due January 30 of each year
The Social Needs Review Committee will review applications and make its recommendations to the prioress of St. Walburg Monastery. The prioress of St. Walburg Monastery will make the final decision and distribute the funds. Notification regarding distribution of funds will be made by May 15 of each year.
