Current Ministry and Interests: Because of my age, I have retired from teaching, retreat work and spiritual counseling. Now I enjoy doing simple tasks for the monastery, reading and interest in politics. I write to congressmen or send e-mails. I keep in touch with my family and friends, helped a lot by email.
Favorite Scripture quotation: Isaiah 44; Lamentations 33:22-24; Psalms 8, 96, 103; Luke 12:22-34.
Monastic Life at St. Walburg Monastery: Monastic life at St. Walburg's has a beautiful rhythm of prayer, Eucharistic service, household duties and recreation. I enjoy the companionship of the sisters who set such good examples for me. The sisters enjoy one another and I've heard from visitors that "we are a fun community."
What I value about community life: One can't imagine a better place to live and grow. Together we can do so much that individually would be impossible. We educate children, provide a home for the elderly, work for peace and justice issues, work for the homeless and so on.
What Benedictine women have to offer: Historically Benedictines Christianized and educated Europe. The arts, liturgy, education, prayer and love of Scripture are still the values in our lives today. When many dedicated women live and pray together and work toward common goals for good, they are a gift to today's often fractured culture.
