Meet the Sisters

Sister Martina Arnold

Current Ministry and Interests: As an octogenarian I am enjoying the blessings of retirement. After many years in the classroom as teacher mostly of religion and math in junior high. I spent my last seventeen years of active service in the development office at Thomas More College. I am especially enjoying the opportunity to have a leisurely breakfast each morning instead of making the mad dash to get off to work on time. The extra time for personal prayer and quiet reflection is also a very important plus. I keep busy otherwise by working at the computer preparing weekly liturgy sheets for the community and doing whatever needs my "expertise." I enjoy playing computer card games and playing cards with the sisters, especially the monthly Euchre Tournament we hold.

Monastic Life at St. Walburg Monastery: Living at St. Walburg Monastery allows me to enjoy the best of two worlds--a little bit of heaven in our beautiful, peace filled setting overlook the Ohio River and the day-to-day exchanges with women sharing the same goals and values, each reaching beyond herself to follow Christ's command to build the kingdom by lives of prayer, service and hospitality.

This is what St. Walburg Monastery can offer women seeking God in a faith-filled community. And did I mention our daily Eucharistic celebration and the Divine Office? They are truly inspirational.
